Guest Mead Maker and Book Signing: Farmer Chrissie of Kookoolan Farms

Our first guest Meadmaker! Meet Farmer Chrissie of Yamhill's respected Kookoolan Farms who will surprise your palate with something new: two lovely meads on today's wine tasting flight “Elegance” and “Copper”.

Chrissie will also sign copies of her gorgeous book “The Art of Mead Tasting and Food Pairing” It's a beautiful hardcover, 432-page, 345-color-photographs full-color coffee table book, a celebration of mead, mead lore, food, and mead-and-food pairings. More than 60 of Farmer Chrissie's favorite food recipes, all paired with mead!

Chrissie is recognized as a national leader in the mead industry. She learned about Mead from her husband Farmer Koorosh who is an experienced beekeeper, having kept some 500 hives back in Iran in the 1980s. In 2017 Kookoolan Farms gained two honeybee hives, with a first harvest of about 65 pounds of honeycomb in September. Kookoolan Farms "traditional meads" (i.e. those made with honey as the only ingredient) have twice won a silver medal at the prestigious Mazer Cup International Mead Competition, the world’s largest mead-only competition, held every March in Boulder, Colorado. And their "Copper" pinot noir, a semi-sweet wine similar to a rosé that is made from their own estate pinot noir wine blended with their award-winning traditional Mead, won a bronze medal in the 2018 Mazer Cup - Third best placement in the world!
